Pineapple Tea

Waste Not, Want Not:

Never throw your pineapple peels away again. Instead make subtly sweet pineapple tea with spicy ginger and cinnamon.


Ingredients List

  • Water
  • 1 pineapple
  • 4 cinnamon sticks
  • 2" piece ginger, peeled
  • PREP TIME: 5 MIN
  • STEEP TIME: 8 HR
  • TOTAL TIME: 8 HR 5 MIN
  • SERVES: 4

Directions

  1. Fill the kettle to the 1L marking with water, put the kettle on the stand and brew.
  2. Meanwhile, peel the pineapple, saving the peel and any scraps. Place the peel and scraps in a large pitcher. Chop the pineapple flesh and save for a later use.
  3. Add the cinnamon sticks and ginger to the pitcher. Pour the hot water over top and steep overnight.
  4. Pour the tea through a fine mesh sieve to remove pineapple peel, cinnamon sticks and ginger.
  5. Fill four tall glasses with ice and serve tea cold. Garnish with chopped pineapple.
